Aerospace Systems
Frontier's Aerospace group designs and manufactures cockpit displays and "black boxes" for some of the most sophisticated aircraft in the world. Frontier is responsible for the Engine Fuel Display used on the Navy's new F/A-18 E/F. Frontier also designs and produces avionics, electronic subassemblies and complex circuit card assemblies for aircraft and missile programs such as , C17, B-52, B1B, F-16 and Global Hawk aircraft.
In 1991, Frontier made a strategic decision to enter the satellite engineering and manufacturing business. Major investments in engineering talent, equipment, facilities and process discipline resulted in Frontier achieving the distinction of becoming the first Oklahoma-owned company to be certified for manufacture and delivery of space-qualified electronics hardware. Frontier completed delivery of satellite hardware for the Defense Support Program (DSP) in June 1997, DoD’s Space-Based Infrared Satellite (SBIRS) low-earth orbit programs in 1999, NASA’s AQUA and AURA satellites in 2002 and NASA’s International Space Station in 2002, SBIRS Satellite tracking system in 2006 and NPOESS in 2008 and beyond. The FES designed and manufactured EMU Audio Control Panel became operational in the International Space Station in 2001 and NASA’s Aqua satellite containing FES Power Control Electronics has been in continuous operation since it’s launch May 3, 2002. FES was selected to manufacture computer systems for Ares 1 in January 2009.
